About Us

Relay Station is an Emmy and Telly Award-winning creative team focused on the design and production of interactive live stream virtual events for learning communities.

Our mission is to make education more accessible and engaging, reflecting our deep-rooted belief that learning should be freely available and not burden individuals with debt.

Drawing inspiration from IDEO and CMX, and thinkers like Priya Parker and David Spinks, our process is grounded in design thinking principles, ensuring our approach is intentional, human-centered, and holistic.

Our Founder

Richard McLean has been working in live streaming video production since 2010.

He designed a graduate level course for the University of Washington called “Building Community Through Live Streaming” and teaches it there each winter quarter through the Communication Leadership department.

Why “Relay Station”?

The name Relay Station is inspired by broadcast technology that amplifies and extends the range of a transmitted signal.

The thalamus in the human brain is often described as a relay station because it directs all of our sensory impulses, thoughts, and emotions.

Inspired by these ideas, our mission is to boost and sustain our clients' communication in a compelling way, inviting audiences to transform their lives by becoming members of a community.
