About Us

Relay Station is an Emmy and Telly Award-winning team that helps learning communities grow their membership programs through live streams and virtual events.

Whether it’s a members-only workshop or a public event that highlights the value of joining your community, we design experiences that attract new audiences and inspire current members to stay engaged.

Our work goes beyond technical production—it’s about creating communities that support your growth, foster lasting connections, and create lasting value for everyone involved.

Our Founder

Richard McLean has been working in live streaming video production since 2010.

He designed a graduate level course for the University of Washington called “Building Community Through Live Streaming” and teaches it there each winter quarter through the Communication Leadership department.

Why “Relay Station”?

The name Relay Station is inspired by broadcast technology that amplifies and extends the range of a transmitted signal.

The thalamus in the human brain is often described as a relay station because it directs all of our sensory impulses, thoughts, and emotions.

Inspired by these ideas, our mission is to boost and sustain our clients' communication in a compelling way, inviting audiences to transform their lives by becoming members of a community.
